Unemployment is now at it's lowest rate since 1975

Figures released by the ONS (Office for National Statistics) show that more people are in work than ever before. Under this Conservative government, unemployment is at is lowest level since 1975. Over 3 million more people are now in work since 2010. Since 2010 employment has fallen by 3.5%.

The number of people on out-of-work benefits in Eddisbury is 60% lower than in 2010.

Between February to April 2017 and May to July 2017, the number of people in work increased, the number of unemployed people fell, and the number of people aged from 16 to 64 not working and not seeking work or available to work also fell. There were 32.14 million people in work, 181,000 more than for February to April 2017 and 379,000 more than for a year earlier.

Latest estimates show that average weekly earnings for employees in Great Britain in nominal terms increased by 2.1%, both including bonuses, compared with a year earlier.
