Rachel Bailey

Councillor for Audlem

Rachel, someone once told me that you are a farmer’s wife who doesn’t let the grass under your feet. Were they being unkind about your farming methods?

Laughing  “ No I expect they were talking about my tendency to always be on the move, dashing from one thing to another. There’s always so much that needs doing and you just have to fit it all in or the opportunities to make a difference might be lost. I’m never sure whether it’s keeping busy that keeps me fit or being fit that keeps me busy. Either way, I like to feel that I am always doing everything I can.”

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Family, Home and Community

What would you like your epitaph to be?

My epitaph has to be, “I’ll be there in a minute”

I wonder what your ambitions are as a councillor?

My ambition as a councillor is:

 (i) is to influence the continuing improvement in education and the care of those in need and the elderly, which is a massive challenge.

(ii) ) I am passionate about encouraging communities taking the opportunity of making their voice heard, there is such an opportunity for people to influence and shape their locality

(iii) To meet the budgetary challenge of the next four years and look to repair of our worn out roads
